This is a booking request, not a confirmed booking. Your dates aren't held until we call you back and take the bond.
The fleet
What's in the yard
The excavator is zero tail swing, so it'll work hard up against a fence, and the quick hitch means you swap buckets in seconds. The tipper drives on a normal car licence — take both and you can dig and cart in the same hire.
Rates
What it costs
All rates include GST and standard buckets. A hire day is 8 hours on the meter — over that, extra hours are $35/hr.
| Gear | Day | Weekend | Week |

Excavator attachments
300, 450 and 1000mm buckets come with the excavator at no extra charge.
Also in the shed
Priced on the job — give us a ring and we'll sort it.
Included in every hire
- Buckets — 300, 450 and 1000mm with the excavator
- Hydraulic quick hitch so you can swap buckets in seconds
- Full tank of fuel to start
- A run-through of the controls on drop-off if you want one
- Servicing — gear goes out greased and checked
Delivery & pickup
Bond & what you'll need
- Refundable bond of $500, returned once the gear's back and checked
- Driver's licence and a matching credit or debit card
- You cover damage while it's in your care — that's how dry hire works
- Return it full of fuel, or we refuel and charge it back
- Return it clean — a hose-off is fine
Got an ABN?
- Trade rates for builders, landscapers, farmers and civil crews
- Long-term hire pricing by the month for a job that's going to run
- Account terms can be arranged for regular customers
- Multiple items — take the excavator and tipper together and we'll sharpen the price
- Aboriginal business — see below if your project has Indigenous procurement targets

Before you dig
- Free enquiry with Before You Dig Australia — call 1100 or lodge online at least two business days out. Hitting a gas main or a Telstra line is your cost, not ours.
- Check your access — measure the narrowest gate or gap before you book.
- Think about ground conditions — soft, wet or steep ground is worth a phone call first.
- Know your soil — hard clay or rock? You'll want the auger or the saw.
Do I need a ticket?
- For work on your own residential property, no licence or ticket is required to operate a mini excavator in NSW.
- The tipper truck drives on a normal car licence — no truck licence, nothing special.
- On a commercial site, you'll generally need verification of competency and a White Card — that's between you and the site.
- Never used one? We'll run you through it on drop-off at no charge. Ask when you book.
Around the MIA
What people hire them for
Griffith isn't Sydney. Most of what goes out the gate here is irrigation, orchard and shed work — so the gear goes out set up for it.
Irrigation and drainage
Trenching new poly runs, chasing a leak on a mainline, re-cutting drainage after a wet season. The excavator with the 300mm bucket is the go.
Vineyard and orchard work
Post holes for new trellis or fencing with the 300 or 450mm auger, pulling out dead citrus and vine stumps, tidying up headlands.
Shed pads and slabs
Levelling a pad for a farm shed, carport or granny flat, then compacting it properly with the ride-on roller before the concrete goes down.
Septic, stormwater and services
Tank holes, absorption trenches, stormwater runs and conduit. Lodge a Before You Dig enquiry first — it's free.
Demolition and clean-ups
Old slab out with the concrete saw and excavator, straight into the tipper, gone. One hire, one trip, no skip bin on your nature strip for a fortnight.
Driveways and landscaping
Scraping back a rutted driveway, carting and spreading gravel, retaining wall footings, levelling for turf, digging out for a plunge pool or tank.
About us
Aboriginal owned and operated
Riverina Diggers is a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated business, based in Griffith and hiring gear across the MIA. You're dealing with the bloke who owns the machines — not a call centre in another state.
For councils and contractors
The Commonwealth Indigenous Procurement Policy and the NSW Aboriginal Procurement Policy both set targets for government buyers to award work to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses, and most head contractors on government-funded jobs carry matching commitments they report against.
- Plant hire counts. Hiring from us is reportable spend with an Aboriginal business.
- Local. Griffith-based, so no interstate mobilisation on MIA jobs.
- Set up for trade. Trade rates, long-term pricing and account terms.
- Ring for a rate schedule if you need one for a tender or panel submission.
Why hire from us
- You get shown how. Never run an excavator? We'll walk you through it on drop-off — no charge, no attitude.
- Right gear for the job. Tell us what you're doing and we'll say honestly if something smaller will do it faster.
- Free delivery on longer hires. Three days or more inside 30km and drop-off and pickup are on us.
- Homeowners welcome. No ABN or ticket needed to hire for work on your own place.
